London based photographer/super babe Nadia Lee Cohen creates retro daydreams in the form of photographs. Talented and a total bettie she's a constant source of inspiration and we're more than excited to have her as this week's Girl Crush. Check out her work and interview below.
Describe your style in 5 words or less.
Rough end of the 70's.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Trailer trash, bad taste, cinema, I'm drawn to anything that looks like a moment from a movie, that's probably the reason I love LA.
When was the first time you picked up a camera? Why have you chosen photography as your medium?
I wish I had a better story for this, I don't. I was studying styling and photography at the London College of Fashion and I focused on styling, one day we had to decide whether to take the route of stylist or photographer and for some reason I decided photographer, it was literally just a decision made one afternoon, it wasn't like my life long dream or anything.
Who are your top 3 Girl Crushes?
hmmm, Divine, Chloe Sevigny in Gummo, and my best friend Millicent Hailes.
Your models are so unique.. how do you select them?
They're mostly friends that have expressive faces, I like to photograph the people that I admire or mean something to me.
What is your involvement with the Free The Nipple campaign?
I'm not directly involved with the campaign, however, I along with many others believe the nipple should be uncensored, it just makes no sense to me.
What's next for you?
I'm currently working on a book of photographs called '100 naked women' that will be released early next year, its a really lengthy project but it's been the most fulfilling series i've ever worked on.
