As an actress do you find yourself identifying with many of the characters you play?
I think the best thing to prepare for a role is to find something of yourself in it, despite any initial perceived differences. I've played so many characters that at first glance were the opposite of myself, but with enough digging you start to see the similarities. I think that helps the character become more grounded and real for me.

What's your favorite role that you've played?
I absolutely loved playing Val in the film Unfriended. I'm often cast as downtrodden and melancholy characters, but from the very start Val was different. She's mean, she's opinionated - she's a total bitch, and offers no apologies for it. It was fun getting to play the villain for a bit.

Where do you draw inspiration from?
Books, friends, social media - everywhere. I try not to limit myself, because inspiration is everywhere. There are times where I feel like I'm almost overwhelmed by the inspiration that I find daily, but we live in an amazing time to be connected to everything.

Any tips for aspiring actresses/bloggers?
Don't be too hard on yourself, and always move forward. This one is especially important for acting - I've been on literally thousands of auditions at this point, and I do my best to forget about them afterwards. It's hard, especially when it's a role you really want, but if you always hang onto that last audition, you can't possibly move forward.

Who are your top 3 girl crushes?
Marion Cotillard, Jenny Lewis, and Alexa Chung

What's next for you?
Right now I'm auditioning like mad, and attached to a film that shoots later this year! It's super under-wraps, and I'm not allowed to say much about it, other than it's set in the 70s. I'm so excited to start filming!
