We got to catch up with C Head's Magazine's
ridiculously talented photographer, Lauren Engel
. Read on to hear the advice this babe has on starting out in the photography world and what she's been up to as of late.
Describe your style in 5 words.
Colourful, edgy, playful, tomboy and laid back.
How did you get into photography and how did you get involved with C Heads Magazine?
I started shooting around 5 years ago doing stuff with classmates then progressed into shooting with agency models. From then on I started shooting fashion campaigns and look books. C-Heads Magazine interviewed me quite early on like four years ago and around two years ago I became an editor and did a lot of fashion shoots and music interviews for them.
Who are your top 3 photographers?
Ted Emmons, Zoey Grossman, Anouk Morgan
What is your favorite subject to shoot? Do you have a creative process?
Female models haha! I love shooting a model with a bit of shape and doing swimwear/lingerie. I love putting together moodbkards and styling my own shoots.
If you could shoot one person, who would it be?
When I started out I would say Chanel Imad who was the top model during that time but now I'm getting more and more into shooting musicians so I would probably love to shoot Missy Elliot and Charli XCX.
Any advice for aspiring photographers?
Watch a lot of YouTube tutorials especially on color retouching, shoot as much as you can at different times of the day so you learn how to use manual in any light, learn some poses and know what type of poses work for different body types because you may have a client one day who isn't comfortable in front of the camera.
What's next for you?
Trying to grow my Sidewalk Talk as much as I can! I interview a bunch of musicians and behind the scenes people in music walking and talking and learn about their life stories!
