Music Monday: Death Valley Girls

We caught up with LA based rock & roll band, Death Valley Girls.  With shrill harmonies from hell, these rock & roll space babes are ones to look out for.

Watch the video “Disaster (Is What We’re After)” below and read more to find out their favorite venues, what inspires them, and what they have planned next!

Congrats on the new album! What was your favorite part about recording Darkness Rains?

Thanks so much! The best part was having so many friends come in and play on it. We record the basic tracks (drums, guitars, bass, and organ) and then add over as much as we can! Getting to add saxophone, synth, Wurlitzer, organ and 8 singers rules!!
Do you have a favorite song off the album?
My favorite is “TV in Jail on Mars.” I love building a song from the ground up that day! We just started having no idea what it would sound like and then figured it out along the way. That’s so fun!
What are some of your favorite venues to perform at and why?
We love so many! In America we really love The Echo in LA, Hotel Vegas in Austin, The Crocodile in Seattle, The Monarch in EL Paso, Third Man in Detroit, The Smell in LA, to name but a few!
How did you guys come up with the name Death Valley Girls?
Larry came up with it! He had it scribbled in a notebook. At first we were called Ex Ghosts! I wrote down around 150 names and none were as exactly correct as DVG. It makes sense in so many ways!

We love your gritty rock & roll image, who or what inspires that and why?
Rock and Roll is our favorite thing in the universe- it’s our religion! We travel the world foregoing our earthly desires to spread the good news - rock and roll makes you feel good and makes you excited to be alive!!
Describe your sound in 3 words.
Rock and Roll!!
Is there anything exciting you have planned for the future?
Yes, a world tour and then more touring and then more recording and then hopefully more touring!!
