We caught up with Baltimore's spirited songstress, Lauren Ruth Ward, on her creative process, current soundtrack, and what's next. Read more and listen to her music below.

Describe your music in 3 words.

Visceral, Truthful, Relative

When did you start playing music?

Started to sing when I was a little kid. I started to play guitar/write songs when I was 14.

Do you have a creative process when writing a song and where you do you draw inspiration from?

I write about what I am going through/what I've been through. I draw inspiration from conversations that I have with myself and others. Eduardo (my guitarist/co-writer) also inspires me, takes the songs to the next level.

What 3 albums inspired you growing up?

Growing upI listened to emo and folk music online and my parents vinyl which consists of mostly classic rock and motown.

What are you listening to this Summer?

My girlfriend, LP, just released her full length. IT'S AMAZING!!! Angel Olsen's "My Woman" album rules. Also been hung up on Christine and the Queens for about two years.

What's next for you?
I'm going on my first tour, full band, East Coast, May-June, so excited. Opening for LP at the El Rey 6/12 then playing The Echo 6/26. Releasing two music videos and then our first full length in Sept. Planning a Euro tour soon.
