We caught up with the fun and vibrant lead vocalist Lydia about her LA based band, The Regrettes, and chatted up about her inspirations, songwriting and her advice for other aspiring musicians. Read more below and see The Regrettes in the new Sunday Girl Collection.
Describe your music in 3 words
Honest, fun, exciting.
How did you all meet and become a band?
We all met a long ass time ago at music school and then reconnected about a year ago.
What's on your Summer playlist?
Hmmmm... Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield and Warts by Hinds.
How did you come up with the name The Regrettes?
I was just trying to come up with a name that would perfectly capture our sound and I feel like the word itself is darker but the "ettes" makes it cutesy kinda, haha.
Do you have a process when writing a song? Where do you draw inspiration from?
I honestly don't. I always write in different ways. I draw inspiration from literally anything and everything happening in my life. I use writing as a tool to get through shit.
Any advice for aspiring musicians or artists?
Write music and don't be freaked out of it's not good at first. You will eventually figure it out.
What's next for you?
Touring in June! We can't wait!
