Festival season is in full effect, so we put together some pro-tips to help you decide which festivals to attend this year (and what to wear!)
From Treasure Island coming back from the dead for another dreamy year of bands playing over the San Francisco skyline, to Tame Impala making grooves on Moreno Beach (yes there will be boat rides!), on a stage that looks like the moon, we're overwhelmed in a good way for the magic that's about to happen.
This year’s Outside Lands is planned to take place in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park August 10 through 12. Just like San Francisco itself, the lineup is diverse, with headliners The Weekend, Florence + The Machine, and Janet Jackson. Not to mention, indie music’s favorites, Bon Iver, James Blake, and for all you hip hop heads, N.E.R.D. and Future. San Francisco’s chilly weather even in August calls for layering. Get ready to channel your inner 70’s wild child bringing out the faux fur, denim on denim, velvet, leather and lace for this three-day event.
Beach Goth is back from the dead with The Growlers announcing their 2018 lineup going down August 5 at Los Angeles Historic Park. As always, headlining is The Growlers, featuring The Drums, GWAR, Doug E. Fresh, The Voidz, Jonathan Richman, and many more. Although Beach Goth is taking place in August this year, it won’t stop The Growlers loyal spooky fans from dressing up in wigs, face paint, platforms and fishnets for the perfect Beach Goth look. With it’s shanty town vibes, gouls, skeletons and palm trees, Beach Goth compresses all performances into an epic day event.
One of our favorite Bay Area festivals has returned celebrating its 11th year with headliners Tame Impala and A$AP Rocky. The festival is taking place October 13 and 14 at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park in Oakland. It’s no secret that the renowned 70s looks will be present - serving graphic tee-shirt, long skirts, braids, and jumpsuit looks. Yet still, Treasure Island remains one of the most inspiring spots for style and creativity, with a colorful crowd of every style you can imagine.
Desert Daze returns for a seventh edition October 12-14 in Moreno Beach at Lake Perris for its annual celebration of music, art, culture, and all things strange and unusual. Hydrate up and get ready to groove all night to headliners Tame Impala, Death Grips, and so much more. As for what to wear, anything to everything will go. Put together something shiny, bright, funky and easy to dance in and you’re set for this psychedelic experience that caters to all weirdos.
The Weeknd, The Killers, and Janet Jackson will headline Goldenvoice’s 2018 Panorama festival that is being held at New York’s Randall’s Island Park on July 27-29. The lineup which includes Dua Lipa, Fleet Foxes, Chicano Batman and Lil Wayne isn’t the only exciting part of the festival. It will also have five interactive art installations all created exclusively by New York City-based artists. Unlike other festivals, Panorama calls for street style, so bust out your 90’s overalls and comfiest pair of sneakers with some cat eye shades to serve your inner Aaliyah.
Mad Cool Festival will take place this year July 12-14 at Valdebebas, north of Madrid, Spain. With seven stages, the three day eclectic event will consist of classic headliners like Jack White, Pearl Jam, and Queens of the Stone Age, as well as Leon Bridges, Odesza, Alice in Chains, and over 50 more national and international artists. It is expected to be hot throughout the three day event so plan to wear something flowy and comfortable. Pair any summer dress with some high top Converse, embellished sunglasses, and a small funky backpack for this mad cool three day event.
