ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Ilse Valfré (b. 1987), known simply as Valfré, is a Mexican contemporary artist celebrated for her colorful, whimsical, and surreal artworks.

Born and raised in Playas de Tijuana, a border town where the U.S. and Mexican borders meet the Pacific Ocean, Valfré’s unique perspective is deeply rooted in her upbringing at the intersection of two cultures. From a young age, drawing became her sanctuary—a way to craft her own narrative and escape into imaginative worlds.

Her distinctive style features bold lines, vibrant colors, and unique female characters, often blending elements of pop culture, fashion, and fantasy. Valfré’s work is a playful exploration of creativity, individuality, and the boundless power of imagination.

Valfré’s work often delves into the intricate nuances of human behavior, embarking on a perpetual exploration of why we respond the way we do to the world as adults, and how these experiences shape our lives.

Ilse Valfré currently divides her time between Nayarit, Mexico, and Los Angeles, California, continuing to push the boundaries of her creative expression across multiple platforms.
